This is one of eight basilicas of Lithuania rising majestically at the Trakai Peninsula Elevation. Many people pray in front of the picture of the Blessed Virgin, who is said to perform miracles.
The town of Trakai is surrounded by many lakes, and for centuries St. John of Nepomuk has been its patron saint; he is said to protect the town from flooding and other water-related calamities.
The exhibition of Sacral Arts welcomes visitors to the territory of the Peninsula Castle of Trakai, in the former Dominican monastery. The art works represent an important part of the ecclesiastical heritage of Lithuanian culture and are filled with noble religious spirit.
